Lightly Sweet Tamagoyaki (Japanese Rolled Omelette) with 1 Egg

A sweet tamagoyaki that kids love, but not too sweet so adults enjoy it too. My mom even asked me for this recipe! I created this easy-to-remember recipe for times when you just want to make a small amount with one egg.

A sweet tamagoyaki that kids love, but not too sweet so adults enjoy it too. My mom even asked me for this recipe! I created this easy-to-remember recipe for times when you just want to make a small amount with one egg.
Steps
- 1
For each egg, use 1 teaspoon of each seasoning. If using 3 eggs, use 1 tablespoon of each. I use white dashi (Japanese soup base) for flavor.
- 2
Before mixing the ingredients, add oil to a tamagoyaki pan and heat it over medium heat (make sure the flame doesn't go beyond the pan).
- 3
While the pan is heating, whisk together the egg, sugar, white dashi, and water.
- 4
Use a paper towel to spread the oil evenly over the pan. If the oil isn't spread well, the omelette may tear when rolling.
- 5
Pour the egg mixture into the pan and cook, rolling the omelette as it sets. Your tamagoyaki is ready!
