Yakitori-Style Tsukune with Meatballs from the Grocery Store

You can easily enjoy yakitori-style tsukune at home!
How this recipe came about:
I wanted to make something for my child for lunch, but when I checked the fridge, there was nothing except some leftover meatballs from the grocery store. I wondered if I could make something with them, and this recipe was born!
My 2-year-old son was thrilled and ate it all up!

Steps

  1. 1

Sauté the meatballs over medium-low heat in a skillet without adding oil.

  2. 2

Once they are slightly browned, turn off the heat, cover with a lid, and let them finish thawing through with the residual heat.

  3. 3

Make the sauce: In a bowl, mix the soy sauce, sake, sugar, and cornstarch until well combined.

  4. 4

Turn the heat back to medium, add the sauce to the skillet, and coat the meatballs in the sauce. When the sauce thickens, remove from heat and serve.
