Shut Your Trap (Get it?!?) Lobster Bisque
Shut Your Trap (Get it?!?) Lobster Bisque
Steps
- 1
Melt butter in a pretty big pan over medium-low heat. Add the mushrooms (if you're like me and don't particularly like mushrooms, you can mix this and just expand the other vegetables), onion, celery, and carrot. Cook and stir until all those veggies are tender, about 10 minutes.
- 2
Stir in the chicken broth, and season with salt and cayenne pepper (careful with this, too much kills this dish from the start!) Bring to a boil, then simmer for 10 minutes.
- 3
Pour the vegetable and broth mixture into the container of a blender, and add 1/4 cup of the lobster meat. Cover, and blend until smooth. Loads of fun whenever someone is trying to watch tv.
- 4
Return to the saucepan, and stir in the half-and-half, white wine (would highly recommend drinking the rest prior to serving, makes getting everything to the table it's own, fun little game), and remaining lobster meat. Cook over low heat, stirring frequently until its thicker than my skin after 4 years working customer service, roughly 30 minutes
- 5
Serve with a salad (lemon something or other) and either a white wine or my favorite: a Funkwerks' Nelson Sauvignon. Or drink whatever you want. You're an adult after all.
