Season the chuck roast on all sides with salt, pepper, and garlic powder.

Melt 1 tbsp butter in skillet and sear roast on all sides.

Place roast in crock pot. Pour 3/4 cup of beef broth over chuck roast.

Add onions, garlic, 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce, 6 oz beer, and 1/2 Au Jus packet to skillet and let simmer until onions are cooked.

Pour over chuck roast and cook on low for 6-8 hours.

Shred meat with mixer. Place provolone slice on sub rolls. Broil in toaster oven until melted. Place meat on sub rolls and top with cheese. Broil until cheese is melted. Scoop meat juice into bowl for dippings.
