Once the oil is hot in the pan, add the ingredients for the masala and fry well...

Once everything is fried, add the grated coconut and fry well... Let it cool down well...

Add the cooled masala to a mixer jar, add a little water and grind it well...

Wash the rice and lentils well, add them to the cooker, pour water and boil until mushy...

Heat oil in a pan and when it is hot, add onion and tomato and fry well.

Once the tomatoes are well cooked, add the chopped turnip, carrots, and beans and saute them... I added carrots because my kids like them..You can just add only turnip...

Once the vegetables are cooked for a while, add water, cover and cook well for 10 minutes.

Once the vegetables are cooked well, add the ground paste, salt, turmeric powder, tamarind paste, add required amount of water and let it boil.

Add sambar masala to the boiled rice and cook for 5 minutes... Once it boils and thickens, turn off the stove...

Heat ghee in a pan and when it is hot, add mustard seeds, curry leaves, dried chillies, cashew nuts and saute them and add to the sambar rice... If you like asafoetida, add 1/2 teaspoon while seasoning... Finally, sprinkle coriander leaves and serve....
