It is February here & almost time to say bye -bye Winter & before we welcome summer , let me make one last winter dish using green chickpeas / popta / lila chana .

Steps

Peel & wash fresh green chickpeas / Popta / lila chana.

Heat 2 cups of water in a saucepan. When water comes to boil, add fresh chickpeas / popta / lila chana. Add salt & sugar (to maintain colour). Boil uncovered for 10 minutes or till fresh green chickpeas become tender.

Switch off the flame & drain the fresh chickpeas/popta / lila chana. keep the drained water aside for later use.

Crush the boiled green chickpeas to a coarse paste. Keep aside. Mince green garlic, ginger & green chillies roughly.

Heat oil in a pan, add cumin seeds, whe the seeds splutter add the minced green garlic, green chillies & ginger. Saute till oil separates.

Add the coarse green chickpeas / popta / lila chana & mix well.Cook for 2 - 3 minutes. Add very little water that's kept aside.

Lastly add grounded cloves, cinnamon & peppercorns powder & salt. Give it a stir & serve with bajra na rotla, fresh curds, a piece of jaggery & red hot garlic chutney.

Serve the full Winter Platter to your loved ones.
