this is a fish curry recipe for when you have very little time on hand... it uses canned sardines in tomato sauce... now canned foods in general are not too big on taste, and canned sardines are DEFINITELY something of an acquired taste... but this is an easy, convenient and fuss-free recipe... so give it a try...

Steps

15 mins
  1. 1

In a kadhai, heat the oil and add the mustard seeds.

  2. 2

When the mustard seeds begin to splutter, add in the curry leaves, ginger and garlic.

  3. 3

Toss them around for a minute, then add the green chilli and onion.

  4. 4

When the onion turns translucent, add the turmeric and red chilli powder.

  5. 5

Cook it off till the powdered spices lose their raw smell.

  6. 6

Add the canned sardines (be gentle with them, they can break easily). mix everything well.

  7. 7

Reduce the heat to a simmer and let the gravy cook for about 10 minutes (till slightly thickened).

  8. 8

Check for seasoning, and add salt only if required (canned sardines usually have quite a bit of salt in them already).

  9. 9

    Serve with rotis.

Hey! I'm a super busy mommy to 3 year old mixed gender twins. I guess that's enough said about the amount of time i get to spend cooking :). Most of the food I cook is about saving time, but not compromising on flavour. My biggest supporter is my hubby, who loves trying out new recipes and experimenting with different flavours. We love entertaining friends, and our home is the usual watering hole in our gang. So we try to come up with some innovative, fun food. Hope u guys like them!
