My Mother's Pounded Burdock Roots My Mother's Pounded Burdock Roots
It was my first time making osechi (New Year's feast) since I got married. My mother taught me this recipe. I wonder if this is from my mother's parents.Roasting and roughly grounding white sesame seeds boosts the flavour and make the dish more delicious.Marinate the burdock roots while they are still hot. Mom's Macaroni Mom's Macaroni
I'm almost embarrassed to post this recipe, it is so simple. To me, however, it is the the ultimate comfort food when I am feeling blue. Mom never served this with "real" Parmesan cheese. In fact, I never knew that Parmesan cheese came from anything except the green Kraft can until I was an adult! Adam Janowski -
His Mother's Dish: Chinese Style Spinach and Egg Stir Fry His Mother's Dish: Chinese Style Spinach and Egg Stir Fry
When I made spinach namul for my boyfriend's bento, he said "If you add an egg to this, it would be the same as a dish my mother used to make", so - I tried it out.If you want to freeze this, freeze the spinach right before you add the eggs. Defrost when you need it, and continue with the egg step. The egg will be fluffy and delicious that way!You could also make the whole dish and freeze it if you like. My Favorite Mother's Custard Pudding My Favorite Mother's Custard Pudding
My kids love custard pudding and this is the normal flavored standard recipe that I always make for them.Don't let the egg bubble when you mix it. If air gets into the egg, it will expand while cooking. Please strain the mixture with a strainer with as tiny holes as possible. This makes it smooth. Use a paper towel to take the bubbles off the surface (For a pretty display) Since this is for kids, I didn't add alcohol, but you can add a little bit of rum for an adult flavor. You can use store-bought caramel sauce or make it however you would like. Mom's Hellfire Greens Mom's Hellfire Greens
My mom may be a Polish lady from Chicago, but she makes the best greens I've ever had! Since I've gotten her recipe, this is a staple of just about every soul food or comfort food meal that I make. Emily -
Mom’s apple pie Mom’s apple pie
Finding this recipe was like being a kid on Christmas morning. I recently made it for my mother in law’s birthday, after finding the recipe handwritten by my dad, in the back of my moms old recipe book. This book is a memory, as is seeing anything in my dads handwriting. This was my dads favorite dessert, and bringing it to life again is as exciting as it gets. I hope you find as much joy in making (and eating) it as I did. Julia Morgan -
Mom's My Nose Is Numb Fig Vanilla Vodka Mom's My Nose Is Numb Fig Vanilla Vodka
My father makes this delicious drink for my mom and recently had me try it. It is so good and the flavored vodkas don't seem to be as strong so you can enjoy a drink or two. My mom after two will tease and say her nose is numb:-) Taylor Topp Comacho -

My favorite recipe of my father's. He didn't have it written down, just did it off the cuff. I finally watched him do it and wrote down this recipe you're seeing today.RedsGT

My Mother's Tamagoyaki My Mother's Tamagoyaki
I have adjusted the amounts according to my preferences, but I used the same amount from back home (my mom's flavor) to make this.I hadn't yet added my family's basic tamagoyaki recipe to MyRecipes, so I decided to upload it.I use 2x concentrated mentsuyu noodle sauce without watering it down. For those of you worried about the flavor being too strong or too weak, lightly coat a pan with oil and heat it up, drop in just a bit of the egg mixture, and adjust according to your tastes after taste-testing.Add in just a touch of dashi stock granules. My Mother's tip of fast Corn on the Cob My Mother's tip of fast Corn on the Cob
My mom over the years was all about shortcuts without the taste being compromised. This is indeed a shortcut she came up with. Some guests came over and she needed a fast meal. The corn takes 10 minutes in the microwave. skunkmonkey101 -
