Jason's best Lasagna

By far the best lasagna I have made. After a few tries and changes I think everyone will agree this is the best lasagna. I have noticed lots of people posting this recipe on their websites and claiming it as theirs or family favorites of years, right down to the photo I took on my own dishes. I will take this as a form of flattery on a recipe that is excellent. So I have now added the description so you all will know where the original came from

In a large pot, cook sausage, ground beef, onion, and garlic over medium heat until well browned. Stir in crushed tomatoes, tomato paste, tomato sauce, and water. Season with sugar, basil, fennel seeds, Italian seasoning, 1 tablespoon salt, pepper, in 2 tablespoons parsley. Simmer covered for one and a half hours, stirring occasionally.

Cook lasagna noodles in boiling water for 8 to 10 minutes. Drain noodles, and rinse with cold water.

In a mixing bowl, combine cottage cheese with egg, the remaining parsley, and 1/2 teaspoon salt.

Preheat oven to 375°F

To assemble, spread 2 cups of meat sauce in the bottom of a 9 by 13 inch baking. Then 3 lasagna noodles. Next, another 2 cups of sauce, then 3 more noodles. Next the cottage cheese mixture. 3 more noodles. 2 more cups of sauce. Repeat noodles and sauce till finished. Top with the grated cheese.

Bake at 375°F for 30 minutes. Cool for 10 minutes before cutting.
