Ingredients

9-inch cake pan
  1. 1 1/4 cupsall-purpose flour (about 150 grams)
  2. 1/2 cupunsweetened cocoa powder (about 50 grams)
  3. 3/4 cupgranulated sugar (about 170 grams)
  4. 1/2 cupsunflower oil (about 100 grams)
  5. 2/3 cupwater (about 150 grams)
  6. 3egg whites
  7. 1 packetbaking powder
  8. Vanilla extract

Steps

    Place the egg whites in a large bowl and beat them until very stiff using an electric mixer.

  2. 2

    In another bowl, mix together the water, sugar, and oil using a kitchen whisk.

  3. 3

    Gradually add the sifted flour, cocoa, and baking powder to the liquids. Add vanilla for flavor. Mix the ingredients until you get a smooth, lump-free batter.

  4. 4

    Gently fold the beaten egg whites into the batter using an upward motion.

  5. 5

    Pour the batter into a greased and floured 9-inch cake pan. Bake in a preheated static oven at 350°F (180°C) for 40 minutes. Perform the toothpick test.
