Steps
- 1
Place treacle, syrup, butter and sugar in a pan and melt over gentle heat, stir to combine.
- 2
Sift the spices and flour into a heatproof bowl, add the sugar mixture and stir to form a soft dough (be careful, it will be hot !) you may need to add a bit more flour. Allow to cool slightly.
- 3
On a lightly floured surface roll out the dough to approximately 5mm thick. Using a gingerbread man cutter, cut out shapes, reform 'scrap dough and cut more shapes until all used.
- 4
Mark the 'Hair' using a fork or tip of a knife (dip fork in flour to prevent sticking) place on greased baking sheets.
- 5
Place in oven pre heated to 180c / 170 c fan. For 7-10 minutes until they start to colour at the edges.
- 6
Remove from the trays and place on wire cooling racks, when cold decorate with icing or gel.
- 7
You can also use the dough for other shapes
- 8
The pictures are a double recipe, to make Wookies and shapes.
- 9
