After all the festivities where we indulged in lots of meat, a break with healthy legumes. Rich in protein, can be enjoyed with boiled white rice or chapati.

After all the festivities where we indulged in lots of meat, a break with healthy legumes. Rich in protein, can be enjoyed with boiled white rice or chapati.

Wash and boil the green grams until soft. Around 45mins. Drain the water but do not discard. Keep aside for the stew.

In a separate saucepan, put the oil, and chopped onion and fry on low heat.

Chop the tomatoes and add them to the onions. Add the salt, stir and cover to cook on low heat for 2 minutes until the tomatoes soften.

Add the green grams, stir and cover. Stir after 5mins then cover and cook for another 5mins.

In a small bowl mix your spice with 1 cup of the previously strained water. Add to the green grams and stir. Cover and cook for 5minutes. Then serve with your favourite accompaniment.
