Mix flour, soda, and salt; set aside.

In large mixing bowl: beat butter and shortening on medium speed for 30 sec.; add sugars and beat until fluffy; add eggs and vanilla and beat well.

Add dry ingredients to beaten mixture; beat until well mixed.

Stir in chocolate chips and nuts.

Drop mixture by teaspoonful, 2 inches apart onto ungreased cookie sheet.

Bake in preheated oven at 375°F. for 8-10 min. or until golden brown.

Remove from cookie sheet; cool on rack.
