Heat up oil in a pan. When the oil is heated up properly, add mustard seeds, jeera (cummin seeds) and some finely chopped garlic cloves. Saute till slightly brown. Add red chillies.

Add chopped onion. Saute till slightly transparent. Add asafoetida powder and turmeric powder.

Add cut spinach and mix well. Close the pan with a lid.

Once the spinach is cooked, add salt, sugar and garam masala to taste. Serve hot with a roti or a choice of bread. Enjoy!
