Ingredients

4 servings
  1. 4 largeonions
  2. 1 kgDiced beef
  3. 1Bottle of dark ale
  4. 75 gramsButter
  5. 2 tbspFlour
  6. 2 tbspBrown sugar
  7. 2 tspVinegar
  8. 1Bay leaf
  9. 1 pinchSalt, pepper, thyme
  10. 2 sliceBrown bread
  11. 1 tbspWholegrain mustard

Cooking Instructions

    Fry beef lightly for 3-5 mins, until edges are seared. Then take the beef out of the pan and fry onions with sugar for about 3 mins.

    Take a casserole pot, add beef, onions, sugar, beer, vinegar, herbs and flour. Mix together and let stew for 1 hour on smallest fire.

    After an hour, take the slices of bread, cut off hard trims, and coat with mustard. Then place the slices on top of the stew. Continue to let simmer for 30 mins.

    After 30 mins, stir in the bread with the stew, it should fall apart easily. Continue to let the stew simmer on the lowest pitch for 1.5 hrs.

    Serve with fries or mash potate, and enjoy!
