Ingredients

  • 1 largeOnion finely chopped
  • 1 cloveGarlic - crushed
  • 750 gramsMinced beef
  • 1 tspHot chilli powder
  • 1/2 tspSalt
  • 1Tin of chopped tomatoes
  • 150 mlBeef stock
  • 1 tspSugar
  • 2 tbspTomato purée (heaped)
  • 1as needed Black pepper
  • 1Tin of kidney beans

Steps

20 mins
  1. 1

    Heat two spoons of oil in a large pan add the onion and garlic and fry gently until golden.

  2. 2

    Add the beef and fry until browned then drain the beef.

  3. 3

    After draining the beef put it back in the pan and add the chilli powder.

  4. 4

    stir in the tomatoes ,stock, sugar, tomato purée and pepper to taste and bring to the boil.

  5. 5

    lower the heat cover and simmer gently for 30 minutes adding the drained kidney beans five minutes before the end of the cooking time
