Ingredients

  1. 1small jackfruit, cut into small cubes & boiled
  2. 2-3 tbspoil
  3. 1 tspmustard seeds
  4. 1/4 tspasafoetida
  5. 1 tspurad dal (split green gram)
  6. 1 sprigcurry leaves
  7. 1-2onion, chopped
  8. 1 tbspginger-garlic paste
  9. 1 tbspcoriander powder
  10. 1/2 tspturmeric powder
  11. 1 tbspred chilli powder
  12. 1 tbsptomato paste
  13. to tastesalt
  14. 1 tspidli podi
  15. 1/2 cupchopped green mango
  16. 1 tsplime juice (opt)

Steps

  1. 1

    In a bowl mix together ginger-garlic paste, tomato paste and all the dry spices with a little water to form a paste. Keep aside.

  2. 2

    Heat oil in a pan and temper with mustard seeds, curry leaves, asafoetida and urad dal. Saute for a few seconds.

  3. 3

    Add the onions and fry till light brown. Now add the spice paste and saute till the oil separates.

  4. 4

    Add the boiled jackfruit and the mango pieces. Mix well and add 1 cup water. Cover and simmer on a low flame till the gravy is thick.

  5. 5

    Add lime juice and take off the flame. Serve as a side dish with either rice or chapatis.
