Ingredients

  1. 8 piecescenter cut bacon, crispy and crumbled
  2. 3 (15 oz) cansGreat Northern beans, drained and rinsed
  3. 4medium carrots, diced
  4. 4 stalkscelery, diced
  5. 1onion, diced
  6. 3 clovesgarlic, minced
  7. 3 cupschicken broth
  8. 1bay leaf
  9. 1 tbspparsley
  10. 1/2 tspdried sage
  11. 1 tspdried thyme
  12. 1/4 tspcrushed red pepper flakes
  13. to tasteSalt and pepper

Steps

  1. 1

    Place all ingredients except the salt-and-pepper in the slow cooker and stir to combine. Cook for eight hours on low heat.

  2. 2

    When soup is almost done cooking, blend most of it to your desired consistency using an emulsifier or immersion blender. If not, put two thirds of the soup into a blender and blend it.

  3. 3

    Add salt-and-pepper to taste.

  4. 4

    194 calories per cup!
