Simple Childhood Afternoon Snack: Winter Melon Tea Agar Jelly and Peanut Mochi

I remember when I was a child, there was an old man who would come by in the afternoon to sell agar jelly and mochi near our house. The kids would ask the adults for some change to buy them. The sweet and crunchy agar jelly or the soft and chewy mochi filled with sesame and peanut sugar powder... that's the taste of childhood.

Cooking Instructions
- 1
Mix the agar powder with the winter melon tea, then bring to a boil until the agar powder dissolves. (The amount of agar powder may need slight adjustment depending on the brand.)
- 2
Pour into a mold and refrigerate until set.
- 3
Place the glutinous rice flour, milk, and condensed milk in a bowl, and mix with a spoon. Heat in a 900-watt microwave for 1 minute and 25 seconds.
- 4
Place in a lightly oiled bag or on parchment paper and knead until it becomes chewy.
- 5
Mix the sugar, peanut powder, and sesame seeds together with a spoon. Lightly oil your hands, take a piece of mochi, roll it into a ball, flatten it, place some sesame peanut powder in the center, roll it into a ball again, and coat with peanut powder.

Matcha Green Tea Shaved Ice with Cute Mochi Balls Matcha Green Tea Shaved Ice with Cute Mochi Balls
It's boiling hot outside! So I created a chilled dessert that'll cool me from within. If you mix the dry ingredients all together, the mochi balls will become stiff, so add water to adjust the texture. If you plan to shape the mochi balls into characters, it's best if the dough is slightly on the softer side. Shape the dough on a sheet of parchment paper, then drop it into a pot of boiling water. So Soft Buttered Mochi So Soft Buttered Mochi
I usually pound mochi rice to make it, but I tried using cut mochi this time to simplify things a bit. Since I've discovered I could use cut mochi to make spongy buttered mochi, here's the recipe for you to try!I recommend you soften the store-bought mochi decently before mixing because it's quite sticky. Use homemade mochi or Japanese rice mochi for the best results. It's really soft when it's done, so please chill in the fridge (or in the freezer if you're rushing) before slicing. Take care to coat the sliced surfaces of the mochi so they don't stick together! Recipe by Rei no oryouri cookpad.japan -
Quick, Easy, and Delicious Milk Mochi Quick, Easy, and Delicious Milk Mochi
When I was a child, my father made a snack like this. He dissolved katakuriko potato starch in a little water, poured hot water over it and stirred swiftly. I modified the recipe. I can get a little more calcium from this snack. ( ) (I can't drink milk.) The smooth texture of these mochi cakes are great!Stir well to prevent the katakuriko potato starch sticking to the bottom of the pan!! You can make this recipe from soy milk too, so this is a good snack for people with allergies. Recipe by nokko.t cookpad.japan
