Gather your ingredients: puff pastry sheets, mozzarella cheese slices, and turkey or regular ham.

Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C). Place one puff pastry sheet on a baking tray lined with its parchment paper. Prick the pastry all over with a fork to prevent it from puffing up too much. Add a layer of mozzarella cheese slices, leaving a border around the edges, then add a layer of ham on top.

Add another layer of mozzarella cheese. Cover with the second puff pastry sheet. Seal the edges by twisting them together to form a braid. Prick the top sheet with a fork to let steam escape.

Brush the top with beaten egg. Bake for about 45 minutes. If it browns too quickly, cover with parchment paper. For best results, place the baking tray slightly below the center of the oven.
