Ingredients

4 servings
  1. 2 cupssemolina /rawa
  2. 4 cupswater
  3. 1 cupsugar
  4. to tasteSalt
  5. 1 tspfennel seeds
  6. 2 cupsgrated coconut
  7. 1/2 cupjaggery
  8. 1/2 tspcardamom powder
  9. 1 tspblack pepper powder
  10. 1 tbspchopped dry fruits
  11. as neededOil for frying

Steps

45 minutes
  1. 1

    In a heavy bottom pan boil 4 cups of water.Add 1 cup sugar and pinch of salt.Boil till the sugar dissolves.Add fennel seeds.

    Slower the flame and add semolina slowly.Stir it continuously to avoid lumps.

  3. 3

    Keep on starring till the dough gets thick,sticky and free of lumps.Switch off the flame and keep the dough aside.

    Heat another pan.Add grated coconut and cook it till light brown.

  5. 5

    Add jaggery,cardamom powder,black pepper powder to it.Cook till the jaggery melts completely and mix with coconut.

  6. 6

    Add chopped dry fruits and mix them well.Keep it aside to cool down.

  7. 7

    Knead the semolina dough.Make small round balls.With the help of palm flatten it a little bit.Fill the flattened ball with coconut stuffing and and close from all the sides to make a round shaped ball with the help of your palm.

  8. 8

    Make all the balls like this and fry them on a low to medium flame til golden brown colour.Serve hot.
