Ingredients

30 minutes
2 servings
  1. 3medium sized potatoes (boiled, peeled and mashed)
  2. 2 tbspoil or clarified butter
  3. 1 tspcumin seeds
  4. 1 tspfennel seeds
  5. 2 pinchasafoetida
  6. 1 tspgrated ginger
  7. 5-6curry leaves
  8. 1 tspkasuri methi
  9. 2green chillies slit or chopped
  10. 1/4 tspturmeric powder
  11. 1/2 tspred chilli powder
  12. 1 tspcoriander powder
  13. 1/4 tspgaram masala powder
  14. 1tomato pureed or grated
  15. 1/2 cupwhisked fresh yoghurt
  16. to tasteSalt
  17. as neededChopped coriander leaves for garnishing

Cooking Instructions

  1. 1

    Heat oil in a wok on low medium flame.

  2. 2

    Add cumin seeds, fennel seeds and asafoetida. Saute for few seconds.

    Add in the grated ginger, curry leaves, kasuri methi and green chillies. Saute for few seconds.

    Now add turmeric powder, red chilli powder and coriander powder. Saute on low flame.

    Add grated tomato, saute till oil starts leaving the sides of masala.

  6. 6

    Further add in the whisked yoghurt and give a quick mix.

  7. 7

    Now add 1 1/2 cups water, mashed potato, salt and garam masala powder. Mix well and let it cook for 2-3 minutes on low medium flame.

    Garnish with chopped coriander and serve hot with steamed rice and chapatis.
