Ingredients

20 minutes
2 person for a
  • 1 cup Black split gram Dal
  • 1/4 cup Bengal gram Dal
  • 1/4 cup flaxseeds
  • 1 tablespoonblack pepper corns
  • 10-12crushed garlic with skin
  • 15 dry chillies (adjust chillies according to your taste, if you like spicy can add more)
  • Bunchfresh curry leaves (washed and Pat dried)
  • 1 teaspoon Hing
  • 1 tablespoon Rock salt
  • 1 teaspoonof oil (to fry garlic)

Steps

20 minutes
  1. 1

    Take a iron kadhai/non stick pan, dry roast all the above ingredients separately except flax seeds. Keep the stove on low flame and slowly stir the Dal till golden brown. We can feel the aroma around us.

    Now add a oil and fry the garlic till golden brown colour not to burn. Now at last dry roast the curry leaves like crispy chips. When we can crush with hands to powder consistency.

    Take a wide bowl let the dry roasted ingredients cool down,than add flaxseed,rock salt and Hing. In masala blender/mixer grinder add all the ingredients.

    Grind the ingredients to a coarse powder consistency. Don't make it like smooth masala powder. Now let it cool down and transfer to a airtight container/jar. With black urad Dal idli podi we can add sesame oil, coconut oil, Olive oil also.

    Tips: 🔼Check the blender should be dry and clean. 🔼Don't use old dry ingredients, it doesn't give long shelf life. 🔼Dry roasting flaxseed looses it's value. 👉Flaxseed has many health benefits - great for weightloss, hairgrowth, diabetes. Try out this recipe and share your valuable reviews.
