Ingredients

30 minutes
Serves 6 servings
  1. 1 cupwater (240 ml)
  2. 1 cupall-purpose flour (about 125 grams)
  3. Peel from half an orange
  4. 1cinnamon stick
  5. 1/4 cupbrown sugar (about 50 grams)
  6. 3eggs
  7. 6 tablespoonsbutter (about 85 grams)
  8. 1 tablespoonvanilla extract
  9. 1 quartvegetable oil (about 1 liter), for frying
  10. as neededGround cinnamon,
  11. as neededPowdered sugar,

Steps

30 minutes
  1. 1

    Heat the water with the orange peel, cinnamon stick, brown sugar, and butter. When it starts to boil, remove from heat.

  2. 2

    Remove the cinnamon stick and orange peel.

  3. 3

    Add the flour all at once and stir constantly.

  4. 4

    Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition.

  5. 5

    Fill a pastry bag fitted with a large star tip.

  6. 6

    Heat 1 quart (1 liter) of vegetable oil.

  7. 7

    Pipe the churros into the hot oil to your desired length.

  8. 8

    Fry for a few minutes on both sides until golden brown. Drain on paper towels, then mix powdered sugar and ground cinnamon together.

  9. 9

    Sprinkle the churros with the cinnamon-sugar mixture to taste.
