Ingredients

  1. 1 Cupcooked basmati rice
  2. 2 tbspoil
  3. 1 pinchasafoetida (heeng)
  4. 1 tspmustard seeds (sarson)
  5. 1/2 cupcurry leaves (kadhi patta)
  6. 1Whole red chilli (sabut laal mirch)
  7. 1 tspturmeric powder(haldi)
  8. 1 tspsalt
  9. 1 tbsplemon juice
  10. 2 tbspcoriander leaves (hara dhania), chopped
  11. 2 tbsppeanuts
  12. 1 tspurad dal
  13. 1/2 tspginger
  14. 1 tspchana dal / split chickpeas

Steps

  1. 1

    Heat oil in a pan, add mustard seeds and let it splutter.

  2. 2

    Now add asafoetida, curry leaves, ginger, red chilli, chana dal and urad dal. Saute them well

  3. 3

    When the seeds begin to splutter, add peanuts, turmeric powder followed by rice. Turn around a few times so the rice is completely mixed.

  4. 4

    Add salt and lemon juice to the rice and mix well.

  5. 5

    Serve hot.
