Heat oil in a karai. Temper with cumin, mustard seeds, dry red chilli, asafoetida and let them splutter and loose their aroma. Add green chilli slitted, ginger paste. Saute till the raw smell goes away.

Add the cabbage shredded, turmeric powder. Mix well with the spices. Saute for 3-4 mins on medium flame and combine the cabbage with the masala properly. The cabbage will loose moisture eventually.

Now add the boiled chickpeas, salt, desiccated coconut. Mix well. Simmer on low heat with the lid on for at least 10-12 mins. Sprinkle a dash of water if required and the sabzi becomes to dry and let it cook until the cabbage soften completely.

Open the lid. Add garam masala powder, lemon juice, coriander leaves chopped. Mix well. Switch off the flame. Serve hot with paratha, roti or plain rice.
