Take a heavy bottomed pan,add cleaned and washed chicken pieces with onion,bay leaves and green chillies.Make a potli of muslin cloth with the spices mentioned.Add to pan,add salt and 2cups water.Cook for 10 minutes.50%done.

Take out chicken pieces,keep aside.

Take out onion pieces and make a paste or simply mash.Keep aside.

Reserve the boiled water of chicken.Discard potly and bay leaves.

Heat 1/2cup ghee in a pan.Fry chicken till golden.Take out.

Add 1/2cup more ghee to the pan,add whole garam masala,add tomato puree,ginger garlic paste,onio paste and all powdwred spices.add 1/2tea spoon salt.Stir well.Cook on low flame till ghee separates.

Add chicken to the gravy,add reserved water of chicken.Cover and cook on medium heat till chicken is soft.

Serve with parathe/naan.
