Baked Zucchini Blossom Cutlets are a vegetarian main dish. They have a crispy coating made with breadcrumbs, sesame seeds, and marjoram! Baked in the oven and absolutely delicious!
Steps
- 1
In a bowl, combine the breadcrumbs, sesame seeds, grated cheese, salt, and marjoram. Mix well. Prepare this mixture ahead of time so the flavors can blend. Store it in the refrigerator.
- 2
Meanwhile, clean the zucchini blossoms. Remove the stem and the inner parts, but keep them whole. Rinse under running water and dry thoroughly.
- 3
In another bowl, beat the eggs with the milk, a pinch of salt, and a little grated cheese. Don’t add too much cheese or it will be too salty!
- 4
Dip each zucchini blossom in the egg mixture, then coat it in the breadcrumb mixture. Press gently to help the coating stick on both sides. Shake off any excess.
- 5
If you’re preparing them ahead of time, line a bowl with plastic wrap and layer the coated zucchini blossoms inside. If needed, make several layers, placing plastic wrap between each. Refrigerate until ready to bake. You can also freeze them!
- 6
Arrange the coated zucchini blossoms on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Space them out evenly. Drizzle with a little olive oil.
- 7
Bake in a preheated oven at 400°F (200°C) on the lower rack for 8-10 minutes. Flip them, drizzle with a little more olive oil, and bake for another 3-5 minutes on the upper and lower racks. Baking times may vary depending on your oven!
- 8
Let them cool for a few minutes, then transfer to a serving plate or bowl.
Your Baked Zucchini Blossom Cutlets are ready!
- 9
Serve and enjoy!
