Tamil Nadu , one of the hottest states of the country is located in the Southern part of India. Though there are many non- vegetarian dishes in Tamil cuisine but mostly vegetarian food is there due to large population of Tamil Brahmins.
If we look at the vegetarian dishes , Dosa, Idli, Pongal etc are most common breakfast items served with coconut chutney & sambhar. Various Sundals are consumed as evening snacks. Various rice dishes are there in their meals. How can we forget Filter Kapi ( we know it as filter coffee). Then vada, uttapam, paysam, paniyaram..List goes on.
Elumichai Sadam - lemon rice is most common rice cooked in house holds of Tamil Nadu. It is comfort food , especially in summers. It is a must try dish.
This flavourful & sour rice , with crunchiness of peanuts is easy to make. Lemon rice tastes best with papadum, it can also be served with coconut chutney and vegetable salad.
