Wash all dals twice and soak for 15-20 mins. Add turmeric powder and pressure cook it for 4 whistles. Let it cool down naturally. keep aside.

Now prepare tadka. Take a deep bottom kadhai. Add 3 tbsp of ghee and 1/2 tsp oil, cumin seeds, Asafoetida, red chillies, curry leaves, ginger, garlic, onion, tomato. Add turmeric powder, red chilli powder, coriander powder, kasuri methi. Cook for 2 mins on medium flame.

Take out some portion for garnishing. Now add cooked dal to the kadhai. Add salt.

Before switching off the flame and butter to it. Garnish with the remaining tadka before serving.
