A very tasty and famous fasting recipe made with sago and potatoes and peanuts,from the state of Maharashtra. This is an all-time favourite recipe which I make often at home and my family loves it.

Take the required quantity of saboodana in a big vessel. Wash the sago well. Then drain the excess water and keep aside. Pour little water in the vessel and soak it covered. Do not pour too much water,if the water is less, you can always sprinkle little more water if the saboodana gets dry. I kept the saboodana soaked overnight, for making it the next day. Shared below is the picture of the saboodana before and after soaking.

In the meantime take the potatoes and cut into small pieces /cubes and keep all the other ingredients ready.

Also put the roasted peanuts and about 2 green chillies in a mixer jar and powder it.

Now heat a non stick deep pan and put oil and ghee in it.When hot add in the cumin seeds(jeera), curry leaves and chopped potatoes & green chilli.

Then here l have added some whole roasted peanuts, saute for a few minutes.

When this is getting fried on low to medium flame, mix the roasted powdered peanuts with the soaked saboodana.

Now add this saboodana and peanut mixture into the pan along with the potatoes and mix well.Add salt to taste and let it cook on low to medium flame covered.Keep stirring in between or else this will stick and form lumps.

After a few minutes the saboodana will get cooked and it will look transparent.That means it is done.Check salt.Add if required and then squeeze in the lemon juice.Add grated coconut and garnish with coriander leaves.Serve hot.

Serve immediately with a hot cup of tea or coffee. Some like it with curd. Enjoy this dish with family and with your choice of accompaniment.
