Pilau my way
My son doesn't like lots of spices like I do so I have to dial down on the quantity of spices and it still works
Steps
- 1
Preparation: dice onions, peel the potatoes I prefer mine whole, cut the meat in cubes
- 2
Put the onions in the pan and fry till they start to turn golden brown then put in the meat
- 3
Let the meat cook first till tender (if you boil your meat before hand then yours will skip this step)
- 4
Once meat is cooked add in your spices and let then cook abit then add your potatoes
- 5
Once potatoes are in cover and let them cook with steam for 2-3min then add in two and half cups of water and cover
- 6
As you wait for the water to boil wash your rice
- 7
Once it's starts to boil add in you rice stir then cover and reduce the heat, I prefer to cook slowly for longer as I find it gives me best result
- 8
Constantly check so you don't burn the rice, and as you wait make your kachumbs
- 9
For the kachumbs start with the onions dice then in to small pieces put in a bowl add salt and water and let sit as you cut the tomatoes
- 10
Rinse the onions and combine with tomatoes add some salt and serve to enjoy
