Ingredients

  1. Ingredients:
  2. 2 cupsrice
  3. 1 cupboiled chick peas
  4. 2onions sliced
  5. 2tomatoes chopped
  6. 2potatoes cut into pieces as desired
  7. 2black cardamoms
  8. 2green cardamoms
  9. 1/4 tspcarom seeds (ajwain)
  10. 1bay leaf
  11. 4cloves
  12. 2 strandsmace
  13. 1 tbspwhite zeera
  14. Oil as required
  15. to tasteSalt
  16. Remaining water of boiled chick peas as required
  17. green chutney
  18. 1 tbspginger paste
  19. 5-6 clovesgarlic
  20. 5-6green chilies
  21. 8-10mint leaves
  22. 1/2 cupcoriander leaves

Steps

    Method:

    Heat oil and fry onions till golden brown. Add whole spices and saute well. Now add tomatoes, potatoes, green chutney and stir. Adjust salt and add little water if needed. Keep stirring till oil separates. Now lower the flame, cover and let it cook till the potatoes are well cooked.
    Now add chick peas, rice, salt and chickpea water as required and cook the rice till done. Set it on dum for the rice to fluff.

    Lastly heat 3 to 4 tbsp ghee, fry around 5 slit green chilies till crispy and give tarka to the rice.
    Serve with raita
    of choice. Enjoy!
