Ingredients

30 minutes
4 servings
  1. 30-40 Gramsbesan /gramflour
  2. 2 Glassesbuttermilk or 1 cup curd (preferably sour)
  3. 1 teaspoonturmeric powder
  4. 1 Teaspoonred chilli powder
  5. As per taste salt
  6. 2 Teaspoonginger garlic paste
  7. 1-2finely chopped Green chillies
  8. 1Dried red chilli
  9. 1Bayleaf
  10. 1-2Small peices cinnamon
  11. 1-2Cloves
  12. 2-4whole black pepper
  13. 1 Teaspoonfenugreek seeds
  14. Pinch aseofotida
  15. 6-8Curry leaves
  16. 2 Strandsfresh coriander leaves
  17. 2 tablespoongrated jaggery
  18. 3-4 Tablespoonoil
  19. 1 Teaspooncumin seeds
  20. For khichdi-
  21. 1/2 cupgreen split moong daal
  22. 3/4 Cupkhichdi rice
  23. 2 Teaspoonsghee / oil
  24. As per taste salt
  25. 1/2 Teaspoonturmeric (optional)

Steps

    Firstly wash and soak he rice and dal together fo 20 minutes.

    Take A bowl. Put gramflour and slowly slowly pour buttermilk and keep stirring continuously to avoid lumps. (u can whisk) Once it is mixed well add turmeric, red chilli and salt. Mix well and keep aside.

    Take A deep vessel, heat oil in it. Put bay leaf, cumin seeds, cloves, black pepper, fenugreek seeds, dry red chilli, and pinch of asafoetida one by one and saute on low flame. Then add ginger-garlic paste, green chillies and curry leaves mix well and pour the besan and curd mix slowly on low flame and keep stirring continuously so that no lumps are formed.

    Keep stirring on low and then add 1-2 glasses of water mix well and bring it to A soup type consistency. Let it come to A boil for 2-3 minutes. Meanwhile, take A pressure cooker put the soaked khichdi after removing excess water add salt, ghee/oil 1-2 glasses of water, mix well and pressure cook up to 4 whistles on low flame.

    Garnish with fresh coriander and serve hot with khichdi. (You may or may not add turmeric powder to khichdi while boiling/cooking)
