Steps
- 1
Remove the crusts from the bread (don't throw them away; let them dry, grind them, and store them in the fridge for later use like breadcrumbs with a pinch of spices and salt😉). Don't waste anything; everything has a use😄.
- 2
First, we need a package of soft white bread.
- 3
Place the soft bread with the chopped butter in a blender and blend well.
- 4
You'll get a very fine mixture.
- 5
Prepare the cream: In a pot, combine the milk, fine semolina, and sugar. Let it boil well while stirring continuously. When the mixture thickens, turn off the heat and add a tablespoon of rose or orange blossom water.
- 6
Spread the ground bread in a baking pan.
- 7
Place 2 cups of shredded cheese on the bread.
- 8
Spread the cream over the cheese evenly.
- 9
Preheat the oven and place the pan in the oven to brown from the bottom and edges.
- 10
Remove the pan and immediately flip it onto another pan, then pour the hot syrup over it. To prepare the syrup, in a pot, combine sugar, water, and a squeeze of lemon. Boil for 10 minutes to thicken, then add a tablespoon of rose water.
- 11
You can serve the kanafeh on a plate, with French bread, or as a special kanafeh cake.
- 12
We create a variety of recipes so we don't feel deprived due to the unavailability of ingredients. Here, we used bread as a substitute for the original kanafeh dough, so we feel satisfied that we offered something special and delicious to our family in a simple and easy way. I hope you like it.
