Wood Apple or Bel has immense health benefits and is a natural remedy for colds,asthma,constipation,high cholesterol,anti inflammatory, diabetes to name the few.It also serves as a refreshing drink during the hot summer months and can be prepared in many ways ranging from sharbat,juices,lassi,murabba etc.The fruit and leaves of bel tree are used to offer to Lord Shiva and other Gods and considered very religious.

Ingredients

3 servings
  1. 1bel fruit or wood apple
  2. 3 cupswater
  3. 1/2 cupdahi/curd
  4. 1 tspsugar /honey /sugarfree
  5. 1/2 tspchaat masala
  6. 6ice cubes

Steps

    Crack the hard outer shell of bel by hitting it on hard surface.Scoop out the pulp and with the help of a spoon deseed the pulp and discard the sticky gum inside it.Soak bel in water for 5 minutes.Mash the pulp and strain through a strainer.

    Add sugar or honey or sugarfree according to sweetness of the fruit and stir well. Add curd,3 icecubes and blend well in a mixer till frothy.Adjust water according to liking whether it will be thick or thin. Add icecubes in each glass and garnish with chaat masala.Serve chilled.
