Steps
- 1
Place all ingredients except the butter into a bowl and knead into a dough (reserve 2 tablespoons/30 ml of water to add gradually so the dough doesn't get too sticky). Add the butter last and knead until the dough is smooth. Let it rise in a warm, covered place for 50-60 minutes, or until doubled in size.
- 2
Divide the dough into 3 equal portions by weight. Shape each into a ball, cover with a damp cloth, and let rest for 15 minutes. (If doubling the recipe, divide into 6 portions.)
- 3
Roll each dough ball into a long oval. Roll up from top to bottom and pinch the seam closed. Place seam-side down on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Let rise in a warm, covered place for 30-60 minutes, or until doubled in size.
- 4
Brush the tops of the risen buns with beaten egg. Bake in a preheated oven at 350°F (180°C) for 16-18 minutes, or until golden brown.
- 5
Let the buns cool. Spread mayonnaise on top, then dip into pork floss to finish.
