Ingredients

  1. 1 cupcooked rice
  2. 2 tablespoonslemon juice
  3. 1 teaspoonmustard seeds
  4. 1 teaspoonDaliya dal
  5. 1dry red chilli
  6. 1-2green chilies chopped (optional)
  7. 7-8curry leaves
  8. 1 pinchasafoetida (hing)
  9. 1/2 tspturmeric powder
  10. 1/2 tspred chilli powder
  11. 2 Tbsppeanuts
  12. 2 tbspsesame oil
  13. to tastesalt

Cooking Instructions

  1. 1

    In a small frying pan, heat sesame oil.
    Add mustard seeds

  2. 2

    When they crackle add Chana dal

    Saute till the dal turns golden.

    Add peanuts and fry on low flame

    Then add the red chilies, green chilies (chopped) and curry leaves.

  4. 4

    Sauté for a few seconds till the red chilies change colour.
    Switch off the flame and add the asafoetida and turmeric powder. Add salt as required. Add less salt if leftover rice are with salt already Mix very well.

    Now add the leftover cooked rice
    Toss everything nicely.

    Add lemon juice in the end and mix gently

  7. 7

    Sprinkle little water and mix well. Toss everything together

  8. 8

    Serve hot
