Ingredients

6-8 persons
  • 1 kgpotatoes
  • 1& 1/2 onions finely cut
  • 1/2onion for tarka
  • Salt
  • 5-6green chillies finely chopped
  • 1 tbspred chilli powder
  • 1/2 tbspChaat masala
  • 1 tspGaram Masala
  • 2lemons juice(u can change the quantity according to ur taste)
  • 1 cupoil for cooking and 1/2 cup for tarka
  • 2 tbspginger paste
  • Pinchkalonji
  • Pinchajwain
  • Julian cut ginger for garnishing
  • Coriander leaves for garnishing
  • as neededWater

Steps

  1. 1

    Boil the potatoes. Peel off the skin and mashed it in a big bowl.

  2. 2

    Now add salt, red chilli powder, ajwain, kalongi, green chillies, ginger paste, Chaat Masala, lemon juice and water approx 2 cup.

  3. 3

    Mix it well.

  4. 4

    Pour oil in a pan and add finely cut onions. When onions translucent in colour, add potatoes mixture. Bhonofy it very well. You can add little bit of water to bhonofy it well.

  5. 5

    When oil comes out close the stove. Mix Garam Masala into it.

  6. 6

    Take oil in a fry pan and add onions. When onions slightly change into translucent colour, give tarka to the potatoes mixture.

  7. 7

    Dish out the Bharta/ bhurta and garnish with coriander leaves and ginger.

  8. 8

    Serve it hot with chapatis.
