Crush 2 garlic cloves and boil all the lentils, garlic and 1/2 tspn turmeric in water for 25 mins.Need about double the level of water to lentils but can always add along the way

In a diff saucepan, brown the onion in the oil and butter. Add all the dry spices (bit of water so they dont burn) and ketchup /lemon etc.

When daal is soft (25 min), mix together, make sure turka is hot when you mix it
