Onion Rava Dosa
Steps
- 1
Soak semolina (sooji/rava) for 10-15 minutes. Drain and transfer it to a blender.
- 2
Add in ginger, green chilli, salt and blend to a thick batter. Transfer it to a bowl.
- 3
Add finely chopped onions and coriander leaves. Mix well.
- 4
Finally add water to the batter to make it of thin pouring consistency. It should be thinner than the normal dosa batter.
- 5
Now heat a non-stick tawa/ griddle on high flame. Grease it lightly with oil. Sprinkle little water on it and wipe it off gently using a muslin cloth.
- 6
Pour a ladleful of the onion rava dosa batter in a circular motion starting from the outer edges. The batter will flow towards the centre. Fill in the batter where there are gaps.
- 7
Turn the heat to medium. Drizzle about 1 tsp oil on and around the dosa. Allow it to cook for 2-3 minutes until the base turns golden brown and crisp.
- 8
Once done, fold the dosa from both sides and remove from the tawa. Repeat to make similar dosas with rest of the batter.
- 9
Serve Onion Rava Dosa hot with coconut chutney and sambar.
