Heat oil in a pan. Add cumin seeds and onions, and sauté.

When the onions start to cook, add the chickpeas. Add salt and turmeric, and stir. Then add the garlic and chili paste.

After frying, add 1 1/2 cups water (about 350 ml) and cook for 15 minutes. Adjust the gravy to your liking. Serve in a bowl.
