I won't say that it is Gujarati daal but like any traditional dish, you can get different version in every different houses. Every home make changes according to their taste. I didn't add jaggery or sugar in the daal which is commonly known.

I won't say that it is Gujarati daal but like any traditional dish, you can get different version in every different houses. Every home make changes according to their taste. I didn't add jaggery or sugar in the daal which is commonly known.

Soak the daal for some time. Cook it in Pressure cooker with tomato.

After that blend it properly. Now add red chilli powder, turmeric powder, coriander powder and salt. Let it boil.

Prepare the pan for seasoning. Add oil, mustard, methi, dried red chilli and asfoitida. Pour the seasoning in the boiling daal. Let it boil for another 5-7 minutes. Serve with hot rice and don't forget to add add a spoonful ghee. The taste is super with ghee.
