Ingredients

4-5 servings
  • 2onion medium chopped
  • 2tomato medium (make puree)
  • 2green chillies chopped (to taste)
  • 1 tbspgarlic ginger paste
  • 2bay leaves
  • 2 cupsWhite chickpeas (soaked overnight)
  • 2tea bags
  • 1 tbspoil
  • 2 tbspghee
  • to tasteSalt
  • 1/2 tspcumin powder
  • 2 tspred chili powder
  • 1 tspcoriander powder
  • 1/4 tspturmeric powder
  • 2 tspanardana (pomegranate) powder
  • 1 tspamchur (mango) powder
  • 1 tbspgaram masala
  • Water as required
  • Fresh coriander leaves, finely chopped

Steps

  1. 1

    In a pan add dry chickpeas 2 cups boiled with 2 tea bags and water & salt and cook it for 45 minutes or untill fully cooked.
    In a pan add oil, ghee, bay leaves, onion, ginger garlic paste, green chillies and mix it well.

    Add tomato puree and add the dry masalas - turmeric powder, amchur powder, cumin powder, red chili powder, coriander powder, garam masala, salt to taste & anardana powder.

    Add the chickpeas to the masala and water and cook it for 8-10 minutes.
    Mash few of the chickpeas for consitency garnish with fresh coriander leaves.
    Amritsari Chole is ready to be served!

    #Tip:
    you can also used canned white chickpeas in this recipe
