Take Tuvar dal in a large bowl and Wash 3-4 times with clean water.Then soak in 3½cups of water for about 1 hour.

Add the dal along with water in the pressure cooker and add 1/2 tsp turmeric powder salt to taste and 1 tsp oil. Stir and pressure cook for 2 whistles till the dal has become completely cooked.

If the dal appears thick, then add some hot water and whisk the dal until it turns smooth.

Heat 1 tbsp oil and 1 tbsp ghee in a pan. Add 1 tsp mustard seeds, 1 tsp cumin seeds and bay leaf.Allow the seeds to pop up and then add asafoetida.

Add finely chopped greens chili and ginger and saute few seconds and add onion, Cook it on low flame. Keep cooking for 2-3 minutes, till the onion is translucent.

Add chopped tomato and saute till it turns soft and mushy.

Add 1 tsp red chili powder, turmeric powder, salt to taste, 2 tsp coriander powder, dry mango powder and garammasala. Keep stirring for few minutes on low flame.

The masalas start releasing oil from sides, Pour boiled dal and about add 1 cup of water to adjust the consistency of tuvar dal.

Cook for few more minutes. Add 1 tsp lemon juice and mix well.Turn off the flame.

Serve hot Tuvar dal with jeera rice and chapati.
