Ingredients

  1. 🌻For the meatballs:
  2. 1small onion roughly chopped
  3. 1green chili stem removed and roughly chopped
  4. 1/4 cuppacked cilantro leaves
  5. 1 Tbspmint leaves optional
  6. 1& 1/2 tsp crushed garlic
  7. 1 tspcrushed ginger
  8. 1 lbground beef (preferably full fat)
  9. 2 Tbspplain flour
  10. 1/2 tspcumin powder
  11. 1/2 tspcoriander powder
  12. 1/2 tspturmeric powder
  13. 1/2 tspred chili powder
  14. 1/2 tspgaram masala
  15. 1 tspkosher salt
  16. 1🌻For the curry:
  17. 1large onion roughly chopped
  18. 2medium tomatoes roughly chopped or half canned tomatoes
  19. 1green chili pepper stem removed and roughly chopped
  20. 1/4 cupoil
  21. 3whole cloves
  22. 1 inchcinnamon stick
  23. 1bay leaf
  24. 4-5 clovesgarlic crushed
  25. 1/2 inchpiece ginger crushed
  26. 3 Tbspplain yogurt
  27. 1 tspcumin powder
  28. 1 tspcoriander powder
  29. 1& 1/2?tsp red chili powder
  30. 1/2 tspturmeric powder
  31. 1/4 tsppaprika powder (regular or smoked) (optional)
  32. Salt to taste
  33. 2 cupsboiled water
  34. 1/2 tspgaram masala
  35. 1-2 Tbspcilantro leaves

Steps

  1. 1

    🌻Meatballs:
    Combine all meatballs ingredients in a food processor and process to combine for about few minutes or just until mixed.

    Using a bit of oil to grease your hands, form into meatballs about 1 ½ inch in diameter. It should make around 20-25 meatballs. Set aside.

    🌻Curry:
    Rinse your food processor
    Then use the pulse function to chop the onion. Remove and set aside. Then chop the tomatoes and green chili Set aside.

    Heat a large, heavy bottomed pan over high heat. Add the oil and whole spices, and allow them to sizzle for a few seconds. Then add the chopped onion and sauté, stirring often, for 7-8 minutes, or until golden. Lower the heat to medium-high. Add the garlic and ginger & sauté another 2 minutes, until the onions have deepened even more in color.

    Add the tomatoes and green chili mixture, followed by the yogurt, spices and salt. Sauté for 4-5 minutes or until the oil starts to separate from the mixture.

    Add 2 cups water and raise the heat to bring to a boil. When the water comes to a boil, lower the heat to the lowest setting. Once it has stopped boiling, arrange the kofte in a single layer.

    Raise the heat to medium, cover and allow it to cook for 10 minutes. Uncover and gently stir the kofte. Lower the heat to low-medium. Cover and allow it to simmer for another 35 minutes, stirring once in between, until cooked through.
    Boiled eggs and set a side. 


  6. 6

    Sauté to evaporate water to make the kofte to desired consistency. Taste and add salt, if needed. Peeled eggs and arrange in pan Sprinkle in garam masala and cilantro. Serve hot with roti, naan or boiled steamed rice.
