Cast Iron Brussel Sprouts

My family likes brussels sprouts very much. I use the pancetta to make it tasty for the wife and kids. They wife and kids love it. I know this is a similar recipe but I've posted however there are some differences and different style of accomplishing a similar dish. I hope you like it as much as they did.

Steps

Approximately 4 mins
  1. 1

Preheat oven to 400 degrees Fahrenheit

  2. 2

I get my Brussel sprouts from the store already cut in half. So I wash and rinse them and put them in a casserole dish. I cover it with plastic wrap place a single hole in the center and microwave it for about 5 minutes.

  3. 3

While that's microwaving, place cast iron pan on stove. Add a little bit of olive oil or spray olive oil into the pan (if you don't use spray oil make sure the oils up along the sides of the pan) and heat pan. On medium-high heat.

  4. 4

Once the pan starts smoking a little, put all the pancetta into the pan. Move pancetta around the pan until pancetta starts becoming a little crispy and a little translucent.

  5. 5

By the time that starts happening your brussel sprouts should be done from the microwave. Remove the plastic wrap and carefully put pancetta into the cast iron pan.

  6. 6

Start mixing in the brussel sprouts with the pancetta the minced garlic, black pepper, onion powder and garlic salt. Or anything else you want to throw in there. Make sure it is well mixed together.

  7. 7

Place the pad of butter on top and put it in the oven.

  8. 8

Cook for approximately 10 to 15 minutes and check on tenderness and mix again. If needed put it back in for another 10 to 15 minutes. Depending how soft you want your brussel sprouts.

  9. 9

Once done cooking quickly taste for salt or parmesan cheese and then serve.

    ENJOY!
