This is a friend's kheema recipe...
Serve kheema with yoghurt and onions, some boiled rice or naan or both.

Heat some oil in pad with a lid and fry the dry ingredients (cloves, cinnamon stick, bay leaf) for 1 minute

Add the chopped onion and stir for 30 seconds

Add the ginger, garlic and green chilli and sauté on a low heat until the onions start to soften
- 4
Add the chilli powder, curry powder, turmeric, garam masala and a generous pinch of salt and sauté for a few more minutes

Add the meat and stir for 2 minutes

Dice the potatoes and add to the pan

Add the tomatoes, tomato puree and enough water to just cover the meat
- 8
Cover and cook on a low heat for 15 to 20 minutes

Add the spinach and stir through until wilted
- 10
Check the meat is cooked and add salt if required. If there's still excess water, uncover and the boil water off
