Amla Kadhi Orakto

Amla Kadhi or Orakto is a traditional kadhi made without curd or buttermilk. This kadhi gets all the sourness from amla(Indian Gooseberry).
Packed with Vitamins, minerals and electrolyte, this recipe is very nutritious and can be served with rice, puri paratha or roti.
We can have this kadhi even in the summer season. Sundry amla during winters, and store them in dry containers. Just soak them in water for an hour and make kadhi.

Take 2 cups of water, besan, hing and turmeric powder in a bowl and whisk altogether to form a thin batter.

Put this batter in a steel kadhai (Please don't use iron kadhai or aluminium one) and heat it to boiling point.

At boiling point you will see the thick scum on the top, remove it with the help of a spoon.

Add 2 more cups of water, Amla, chili- ginger paste and cook it till amla turns tender.

Break the amla with a spoon and deseed them.

Take oil in a different pan, add mustard seeds, cumin seeds, hing, methi seeds, curry leaves, red chillies and temper it over the kadhi.

Serve hot with rice, roti or paratha.
