Clean and wash spinach and finely chopped them. In a pressure cooker add 1 cup of chana dal and three cups of water.

Now add chopped spinach to it. Add turmeric powder salt, curry leaves, green chili. Mix well. Close the lid and cook for 5-6 whistles.

Once the pressure releases, open the lid and mash the dal well. Simmer it on low flame. In a frying pan heat desi ghee and add jeera, red chili, and garlic. Add a pinch of hing.

Now add chopped onion. Saute till golden brown. Now add tomato and sauté till tomatoes get mushy.

Add the mixture in palak dal. Give a stir to palak dal

Palak dal is ready. Serve with hot steamed rice or with chapati.
